We protect your personal data.

In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), this data protection document has been written to shown how the Royal Court of Sweden processes the personal data that we hold about you.

This document describes how the Royal Court of Sweden works to protect your personal data and to ensure your personal privacy. ‘Personal data’ is everything that can be linked to a specific individual, such as name and contact details. Here, we describe how we process your personal data, your rights regarding personal data, and how you can exercise your rights.

The Royal Court of Sweden consists of the Royal Household and the Royal Palace Administration, all of which undertake to process your personal data in accordance with prevailing data protection rules and internal guidelines. In order to ensure that these rules are complied with, a data protection organisation has been established.

Personal data that is processed for private purposes is not covered by the GDPR.

Processing personal data within the Royal Court of Sweden

The role of the Royal Court of Sweden is to support the Head of State and the Royal Family in their official duties, and to preserve and exhibit to the general public the cultural heritage linked to the Swedish monarchy.

The Royal Court of Sweden consists of the Royal Household and the Royal Palace Administration. If you have been in contact with or have a relationship with one of these organisations, they may need to process your personal data.

The Royal Palace Administration (company registration number 202100-3484) is the part of the Royal Court of Sweden’s organisation that is responsible, among other things, for the palaces and related buildings, collections, grounds and public operations. The Royal Palace Administration processes your personal data if, for example, you buy a ticket for a tour of one of the royal palaces, buy something from the Royal Gift Shop, hire one of the royal palace chapels or pay for photography.

The Royal Household (company registration number 902000-7374) is the part of the Royal Court of Sweden’s organisation that is responsible, among other things, for constitutional, state ceremonial and official assignments. The Royal Household processes your personal data if, for example, you submit a question via our website, send a greeting to the Royal Family, or send a gift to the Royal Family.

The organisation – the Royal Palace Administration or the Royal Household – with which you have had contact is the personal data controller responsible for processing your personal data.

Updating how we process your personal data

The Royal Court of Sweden may update this information document, for example if we process your data for new purposes, gather additional data or share your data with categories of recipients other than those stated here.

In such cases, you will be able to find out about any updated information when such changes occur. The latest version of this information is always published here at the Royal Court’s website.

How can I manage my personal data?

We process your personal data to the extent that is necessary in order to fulfil your rights. The GDPR gives you a number of rights in relation to processing your personal data.

Access to your personal data

You have the right to access your data by making a subject access request regarding the personal data about you that we have registered.

Right to rectification of personal data

If you believe that any data about you is incomplete or incorrect, you have the right to request that the data is corrected or completed.

Right to give and withdraw your consent

It may be that we ask for your consent to process your personal data. You have the right at any time to change your mind and withdraw your consent for continued processing.

Right to object to processing based on a legitimate interest

In certain cases, we have made the assessment that our need to process your personal data is so strong that we have what is referred to as a legitimate interest. You have the right to object to our assessment of a legitimate interest.

However, we may continue to process your data despite you having objected to this processing if we have compelling legitimate reasons for processing that outweigh privacy interests. If we are unable to demonstrate compelling reasons, we will stop processing your personal data.

Right to delete personal data

Under certain circumstances, you have the right to have your personal data deleted, for example if there is no longer any need to process your personal data. However, this does not apply if, for example, we are obliged by law to keep this data.

Right to restrict processing of data

You have the right to request that the processing of your personal data is restricted if, for example, you believe that it is not correct or if you wish to object to our assessment of a legitimate interest in carrying out processing. If you request that the processing of your data be restricted, this may however mean that we are unable to meet any obligations we have to you during the time that processing is restricted.

Right to move your data (data portability)

You have the right to a copy of the personal data relating to you, compiled in a structured, machine-readable format. In contrast to the extract provided following a subject access request, this only includes some of the data that we process.

Processing will take place with your consent or in order to fulfil an agreement with you, and this right only covers personal data that you yourself have provided us with, for example if you have provided your e-mail address when registering for a mailing. In other words, only certain data is covered by the right to data portability.
